Nuno Valente arrived at Goodison Park from Porto in August 2005.
A Champions League winner in 2004, he played under Jose Mourinho in Porto.
He first appeared for Portugal against England in September 2002 at the age of 27. His impressive showings for Porto subsequently made him a regular under Luiz Felipe Scolari.
