Zlatan Ibrahimovic - Swedish Legend

Born in Sweden to a Croatian mother and a Bosnian father, Zlatan Ibrahimovic made a name for himself at the tender age of 10 .

Ibrahimovic is a physically tough gifted striker who is a headache for any defender.
He keeps possession well and is difficult to tackle.

He took Malmo from division two to division one, helped Ajax capture two titles and led Juventus to a Serie A title.

A pure goal scorer, Ibrahimovic has tallied key goals throughout his career, such as the game-winning goal in the 2002 Dutch Cup.

Ibrahimovic began playing soccer competitively at the age of 10. In 1999, he joined his first professional team, Malmo FF, a second division Swedish Football club.

In his first season, Ibrahimovic scored 12 goals in 26 games and helped Malmo jump to the top division.After his successful season, Arsenal of the English Premier League and Ajax Amsterdam showed interest in him.

Malmo blocked a transfer to Arsenal, but later agreed with Ajax on a transfer for €7.8 million (roughly US $10 million). In 2002, Ibrahimovic moved to Ajax for €7.8 million.

In 2004, Ibrahimovic moved to Juventus of the Italian Serie A for €19 million.
With a 16-goal contribution from Ibrahimovic, Juventus won the Serie A title.

Ibra joins Inter after three years at Malmo, four at Ajax and two with Juventus. When unveiled to the media at Angelo Moratti Sports Centre, he declared: "As a boy, I always supported Inter."

Youri "The Snake" Djorkaeff

This nickname was given to him in his early days in Monaco.
When he finished training he asked Marc Delaroche , one of the subs, to go in goal.
For a long hour he had bang, bang, bang.
Delaroche said to him : 'It's like a snake attacking you. You never know where the ball's going.'
After that the snake thing just stuck to him.

Youri played for France national team, PSG , AS Monaco , Inter Milan and other great teams in Europe.

He is definatly one of the great french footballegends.

Gheorghe Hagi - The 'Maradona of the Carpathians'

Romania's footballegend has played more games and scored more goals for his country than anyone else.

In 1994 World Cup, he led Romania to the quarter-finals with a stunning long distance shot against Colombia in the group stage and the decisive third goal in a thrilling 3-2 second-round win against Argentina.

Everyone remeber that he was involved in a fascinating battle with Paolo Maldini, which was unfortunately ended when Maldini was injured just after half time.

He played for Galatasaray , Turkey and many have described him as "the best foreign player ever to play in Turkey."

Daniel Alberto Passarella - "El Gran Capitan" (The great captain)

Argentina legend Daniel Passarella was an unusual player. His scoring record is quite unique for a defender.
In 298 matches in the Argentine league, he scored 99 goals.
Despite being only 174cm, he was exceptional in the air and scored an impressive amount of goals by headers from corners or free-kicks.
He won lots of honours in the game.
Several league championships with River Plate in Argentina, which was the club he served most of his career.
But the highlight was of course to win the World Cup in 1978 on homesoil. He was 25 years old and captained Argentina to victory.

Great Maradona , Kempes , Ardiles and Valdano played with him then...

Peter Schmeichel - United Legendary goalkeeper

Manchester United legendary goalkeeper started his career playing often as a striker but his real talent was found to be in goal.

Alex Ferguson spotted his potential and took him to Old Trafford in 1991 for the ridiculously small sum of £500,000.

He left English football at the end of the 1999 season at the age of 35.

In his first season in Sporting Lisbon in 2000, he helped them win their first League title in 17 years.

Schmeichel shocked everyone in the football world, as he returned to the Premiership with Aston Villa on a free transfer in July 2001.

Peter finally retired from professional football for good in May 2003.

Lothar Matthäus - Germany Legend !

Legendary Lothar Matthäus is a member of the FIFA 100 – a list of 125 of the greatest living football players chosen by Pelé.

Played in 5 World Cups (1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998) more than any other outfield player, and holds the record for the most World Cup matches played (25 games).

Now he is the coach of Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.

Roberto Baggio -Il Divino Codino !!

Roberto Baggio, Italian Football legend , had taken part in 3 World Cups, 1990 in Italy, 1994 in USA and 1998 in France.

He wes born in Caldogno, a small town in the north of Vicenza in Italy.

Played in AC Milan, Juventus, fiorentina and Inter Milan.

He Has Had a great career, definatly THE BEST player in ITALY ever since .

Many remember him missing a penalty kick against BRAZIL in world cup final of 1994.

Baggio played his final match on May 2004, against an A.C. Milan led by his former teammate Paolo Maldini, when he left the field in the second half, all the players, coaches and staffs from both teams, as well as all the spectators at the San Siro Stadium gave him the biggest standing ovation to farewell one of the greatest football player in soccer history.

Arsenal Legend Dennis Bergkamp.
He will always be remembered in the hearts of the fans for his game, for the unique and truly special technique he had shown during his football career!Hope to see him coaching a team and show his intelligence way of play through that team once!

He will always be remembered as one of the most gifted players ever.

Most players nowadays probably would learn a lot from watching old tapes of Bergkamp because he took the game to the highest level.

Zico - The "White Pele"

Legendary Brazilian footballer Arthur Antunes Coimbra is better known as Zico or "White Pele".

He was one of the most skilled dribblers and finishers ever and possibly the world's best player of the early 80's.

Zico played for Brazil in the 1978, 1982 and 1986 World Cups, and scored 66 goals in 88 matches.

He is often considered one of the best players in football history to have never been on a World Cup winning squad.

Later on , Zico has coached the Japanese national team.

He was announced as the head coach of Fenerbahçe of Turkey in 2006.

Bebeto - The Proud Father

José Roberto Gama de Oliveira - thats his name.

The Brazilian forward scored 42 goals in 76 caps in the brazilian team.

He is also known as the "baby holder".

In match against Holland , after scoring a goal , Bebeto ran to the sideline, brought his arms together and began rocking an imaginary baby.
His friends Romário and Mazinho also joined in.

That was a tribute for his new born son...

Paolo Rossi - Italian Legend

Italian Paolo Rossi was a great player.

He had some injuries on the knee at the beginning of his carreer, so in 1982 was not at his best.

But still he scored 3 goals against Brazil.

Because of the problem he had on the knees, he retited at the age of 30.

If you watched South American football back in the 90's , you wouldnt miss the legendary Carlos Valderama.

Carlos Valderama and his massive hair teared down the field during USA 94.

With his luminous orange hair, Carlos Valderrama was always going to catch everyone's eye.

He is now assistant manager of Athletic Junior in Colombia.

The legendary Colombian - Rene Higuita

Rene Higuita - the Colombian legendary goalkeeper with an impressive collection of converted scores - started out as a striker but famously took to goal when the injured keeper in a school game was taken off the pitch.

From then on, as they say in Colombia, the goal was his.

His scorpion kick in 1995 on a friendly against England at Wembley is of undeniable wow-status, and served to position him in fandom psyche as one of the most entertaining players ever to grace the pitches.

His career highlights are often summarised by that save, and an impressive goal he himself scored against River Plate in the Copa América.

Personally , I love this man.

Great Benayoun !!!


Yossi Benayoun claimed his first hat-trick in Liverpool with an 8-0 demolition of Besiktas, their biggest European win in 27 years.

A trio of poacher's finishes from the Israeli midfielder was complemented by doubles for both Peter Crouch and substitute Ryan Babel and skipper Steven Gerrard also got on the scoresheet as Liverpool ran amok.

The win was also the biggest winning margin in a Champions League game.

Van der Sar is Retiring !!


Van der Sar will retire from international soccer after Euro 2008.

Legendary Netherlands goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar intends to retire from international soccer after Euro 2008.

The 37-year-old Manchester United goalkeeper has 121 international appearances until now.

Van der Sar began his career at Ajax, winning the Champions League in 1995.
He then moved to Juventus, Fulham and Man United.

Keane - Irish Football Legend

The Irish football legend, Roy Keane is now the manager of Sanderland.

he starred as a central midfielder for Cobh Ramblers, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Celtic, as well as the Irish national team.


He is known as a born leader, excellent tackling and distribution abilities.


Keane was called by Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson the best player he had in his 20 years on the job (ahead of David Beckham).


Football commentator Alan Hansen went further, calling Keane the best player to have played in the Premier League since its inception in 1992.


Keane was the only Irishman named to the FIFA 100 list of the greatest footballers of all-time.
